Red Blooms that Shoot Up Like Rockets During the Summer Months — Buy Red Rocket Crape Myrtles for Sale Online!

The Red Rocket Crape Myrtle tree is a delightfully small tree that suits every landscape and every season. With clusters of ruby red crepe papery flowers that nearly cover the fast growing tree in early spring and all summer long. More blooms plus dark green foliage turns rich bronze red in the fall for great cool-season interest!

The showy flowers with cherry red blooms contrast nicely with the green foliage from July to September. The trunk of this crape myrtle is multi-stemmed so it appears as a tall shrub for the first few years of its life. The red rocket shrub is an excellent choice if you are looking for a small flowering tree for your yard.

This attractive crape myrtle tree red rocket is also disease-resistant and easy to maintain, making it the perfect addition to your landscape. Crape myrtles were brought from China into Charleston, South Carolina in 1790, and this particular one was developed and patented by Dr. Carl Whitcomb along with many other crape myrtle trees.

Red Rocket Crape Myrtle Growth Rate

The Red Rocket Crepe Myrtle grows up to five or more feet a year, offering a fast growth rate and it is one of the fastest-growing crape myrtles. It is named so because the trunks shoot up like a rocket. It will eventually reach a mature height of up to 20-30 feet tall and 10 – 15 feet wide.

Prune your crape myrtle to maintain desired size and shape. Cut back dead branches in late winter or early spring. A slow release fertilizer will help produce those gorgeous red flowers year after year.

Crape Myrtle Red Rocket Care

Thriving best in any well-drained soil, the Red Rocket plant asks only for proper drainage and frequent watering during dry periods. It is drought tolerant once established. Plant this lagerstroemia indica in full sun. Plus, they’re deer resistant!

The red flowering tree grows across the United States in USDA growing zones 6-9. It is slightly cold hardy in the southern states. Water thoroughly the first year of planting to establish a strong root system.

BEAUTIFUL tree! Came healthy and well packaged. I've had it now for 2 or more months and the leaves look so healthy and shiny it almost looks fake (?). Bright cherry red and abundant blooms! I couldn't be happier, from North Central Florida, zone 8b/9a.
