A great shade tree, the Amling pecan tree features an early harvest season from September through the end of October. The high quality nuts will not disappoint!

This tree is excellent when it comes to establishing a home orchard or closer to your house. Consequently, the tree’s shade provides a cooling alternative during summer and can consequently have the benefit of reduced air conditioning costs.

This fast growing tree boasts scaly grey bark and medium green leaves with up to 17 lance-shaped leaflets. Also with the added benefit of delicious pecans that are simple and easy to shell.

This cultivar exhibits lush dark green foliage and is incredibly resistant to pests, making it an ideal and easy to maintain yard tree that will liven up any landscape. Amling can reach up to 100 feet tall in height, and grow as high as 150 feet in ideal conditions.

Amling Pecan Care

The Amling is the highest recommended pecan tree by UGA.edu for home growing and is a cultivar from Alabama. One of its most attractive qualities is the scab resistance and excellent kernel quality. The Amling Pecan Tree features a yield of roughly 62 nuts per pound with anywhere from 50-60% kernel.

The addition of fertilizer when planting trees will benefit the tree greatly when it is young. We prefer a granular fertilizer until the root system is established.

This nut tree is a Type 1 pollinator and requires a Type 2 pecan variety like Elliot Pecan or Kanza Pecan to produce nuts.

Check out our pecan grow guide for information on choosing, planting, growing, and harvesting pecans.

We did receive on that had a broken stem, but I believe we can save it! Otherwise, very happy with the purchase and the deliver process!
