The red raspberry bush features large, firm juicy berries that ripen in August (berries can ripen earlier the further south you grow) through first frost.
The Caroline raspberry thornless is exceptionally disease resistant and heat tolerant compared to other everbearing raspberries. It features sweeter fruit, as well.
Canes will shoot up in winter or early spring. The strong canes need little pruning to maintain shape. Only prune crossing canes or vigorous canes to improve desired shape.
Caroline Raspberry Care
The Rubus argustus berry bush is low maintenance and easy to care for.
The variety of red raspberries is self-fertile, very sun tolerant and deer resistant. Its fruiting canes will reach an average of 4-5 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide at maturity. The red raspberry fruits measure 1-2 inches wide. You will need only one plant for your home garden to produce plentiful fruit.
Grow Caroline red raspberry bush in full sun across the United States in USDA growing zones 4-9. It is extremely cold hardy and a good contender for the northern states who want delicious raspberries! The berry bush is self fertile and does not require another fruiting plant nearby for cross pollination.
This raspberry variety starts developing fruit in the spring and summer months and produces fruit in the fall ready for picking. The Caroline raspberry has a second fall bearing crop after August in some warmer climates on the previous years growth. The raspberry plant needs well draining soil to prevent root rot.
