Product Description
Planting a Limelight Hydrangea bush will add a true show stopper vibe and summer feel to your garden!
The Limelight hydrangea shrub boasts cone shaped flowers that are larger than most other hydrangea varieties and begin to bloom mid summer. Celadon green flowers bloom on new wood year after year. Deadhead spent flower blossoms in winter or early spring to encourage new growth and accelerate the bloom time.
The creamy white lime green color of the hydrangea blooms will last all the way into the fall growing season. Eventually they will change into a deep pink that truly highlights and contrasts with its lush dark green leaves. Soil pH does not affect limelight bloom color. The white flower color will change as the weather cools down in fall.
The proven winner variety is what is known as a panicle hydrangea which means the blooms get quite large and the flower heads change from white to pink, red, or burgundy before drying to a beige color in winter.
Planting Limelight Hydrangeas
The Hydrangea paniculata limelight has an upright growing structure that will get up to 8 feet tall and wide at maturity. It is also drought tolerant. It performs best in loamy, moist, well-drained soil types and unlike many other hydrangeas, it prefers full sun to partial sun.
This flowering shrub can grow in most of the United States in department of agriculture plant hardiness zones 3-9. Makes an excellent shrub border. Growing hydrangeas is fun and rewarding! They can grow in most of North America.
The best time of year to plant the limelight tree is in early spring so it has time to establish roots. The limelight hydrangea growth rate is up to 12 inches per year.
Limelight Hydrangea Care
A slow release fertilizer applied in early spring will help this type of hydrangea thrive during the growing season. Apple insecticidal soap if you see pests such as slugs, snails, aphids, or spider mites.
Limelight hydrangea pruning should happen in late winter or early spring before new growth appears or larger flower buds start forming.

Oh my goodness. I just received my Limelight. It doesn’t even have leaves (it’s February; still dormant) but I can tell it is so healthy! The stems look so sturdy and healthy. The structure of the stems is also so pretty! It came packaged so perfectly, and was so well wrapped that no soil escaped the pot whatsoever. It was also still nice and moist and didn’t dry in shipping at all. I am just so impressed! I can’t wait for it to break dormancy this spring!
