Product Description
This dwarf pink Muhly grass plant cultivar is as unique as it is breathtaking! In the autumn, it creates an incredible display of billowy, vibrant pink ‘hairgrass’ that will add a playful yet sophisticated look to your garden.
This North Carolina native plants fall flowering makes it a very distinguishing ornamental grass addition to any landscape. In the early spring growing season, white flowering stalks shoot up before its pink flower form season color.
Masses of airy, open, loosely branched blooms (each to 12 inches long) in purple-red to pink colors hang above the dark green foliage in a lengthy fall bloom. Some may say it looks like cotton candy pink grass giving it the nickname of cotton candy grass! Tan seed head plumes continue to thrive all through winter on this grass.
Pink Muhly Grass Care
Gulf muhly grass is a native plant of the South that boasts good drought tolerance and salt tolerance. It is low maintenance and can be planted in a wide range of sites including poor soil sites that are sandy or rocky. This warm season plant doesn’t like wet conditions so be sure to plant in a well drained soil site.
Used by garden designers all over and looks wonderful in mass plantings or as ground covers in native gardens. For muhly grass spacing, be sure to plant this grass at least 3 feet apart.
Muhlenbergia capillaris aka muhly grass is easy to grow and tolerates heat, humidity, and drought (hence why it lives in Florida and southern North America). It is also deer resistant!
Grass grows in full sun across the United States in USDA growing zones 6-9. It can grow up to 2-3 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide at mature height. It is a good idea to feed with a slow release fertilizer in early spring while it is actively growing.
The blue green foliage has clump forming masses that will spread around the planting site. Careful, if left unpruned the pink muhly grass is invasive! Containers work wonders for keeping the ornamental grass at bay!

I ordered this plant through Zulilly. I was skeptical about how a “live” plant would travel from Florida to Colorado. But when it arrived and I opened the box it was wonderful to say the least! The plant itself was in its dormant stage and sooooo full and about 3′ in height! The container was tied down to the box so that it wouldn’t move around in its journey and there was plastic around the container to hold in the soil and moisture! VERY VERY nicely done!!! They could give lessons to other plant shippers on the “how to’s” I will definetly be ordering lots more from this company!!! Thank you sooooo much…XXOX

Hi Donovan, thank you for your review on our Muhly Grass. Browning is typically a sign of underwatering. We’d be happy to take a look if you are able to send us an email with some photos to contact@myperfectplants.com.
