Brighten up your landscape all through summer and fall with the Royal Purple Liriope’s stunningly elegant deep violet and deep purple flower clusters!
This easily grown lily turf is widely known for its attractive dark green grass like foliage and its densely packed royal purple blooms that turn to black berries in the fall. The Liriope royal purple flower spikes appear in early spring and last throughout the growing season. The green leaves have year long interest.
The Royal Purple Liriope will grow in part sun to part shade, but prefer a mixture of both. They can tolerate full sun if planted in a spot with afternoon full shade. They have good tolerance to heat, humidity and drought. The liriope plant has no serious insect or disease problems and may be used for ground covers or edging plants.
Similar to monkey grass, this grass grows in a clumping form and prefers well drained soils. The Liriope muscari needs to be watered regularly the first year of planting to establish a strong root system and it will last for years to come. Grows in a wide range of soil conditions or locations and is commonly seen in woodland gardens.
