The delicate yellow gold petals of this sweet bloom emerge in the springtime like a cheerful ‘hello’ after a long winter! What better way to ring in the spring than with a burst of sunshiny color? The Stella de Oro Daylily can do that!
The Hemerocallis Stella daylily starts blooming longer than any of its other daylily kin in the genus hemerocallis. Its late spring golden yellow blooms continue throughout the early summer and even into early fall and attracts butterflies to your garden.
This day lily is excellent for naturalizing or planting in large masses or dense clumps for ground covers. The golden yellow flowers are trumpet shaped and should be pruned or deadheaded once the spent form flower wilts.
Stella d Oro Daylily Care
The Daylily Stella de’ Oro thrives best in moist well drained soil and hot full sun. It can tolerate part shade and a wide range of soil sites. Be sure not to over fertilize this herbaceous perennial plant during the blooming period on the soil surface! Can grow up to 2 feet tall and 12 inches wide or more at full size.
Grows well in most of the United States. Best USDA plant hardiness zones are 4-9. Growing season for the continued blooms depends on your zone but can bloom for long periods. The daylily stella d’oro is a great choice when you are looking for a pop of color with ground cover features.
You may be asking how to care for Stella d Oro Daylily. This reblooming daylily is easy to grow and the biggest benefit of removing the spent flower stalks is so more can appear. Daylilies are very drought tolerant once established.
It can benefit from adding a slow release fertilizer in early spring to improve seed pod production and help protect against daylily rust. The stella d oro flowers will act in a spreading nature when the oro blooms drop the seed pods to the ground.

Looked pretty sad when I opened the box. Lots of dead leaves and most of the flower stems had dried up. I planted it and am hoping it’ll revive.

Hi Chelsea, thank you for the feedback. I believe your daylily will bounce back with full recovery. The plants don’t love being in a box for the shipment period. You can prune off any damaged leaves or flowers and it will encourage new growth and blooms. Keep us posted on the status of your Stella de Oro Daylily. We will be happy to fix the experience for you.

They arrived well packaged with a good appearance. On planting in pots they have had some browning of leaves. Both plants have had one small flower and a few buds.

Hi Marcia, we thank you for your honest feedback. The Stella de Oro Daylily leaves are pretty fragile when in the box but they are hardy and the plant should bounce right back with plenty of water and sunshine. We do recommend pruning off any brown leaves to encourage new growth. Please contact us with any questions you may have. Thank you
