One of the absolute favorite border plants among gardeners. The hardy Variegated Liriope cultivar can tolerate a variety of soil and environmental conditions and are incredibly easy to maintain!
This charming plant hosts variegated dark green and white leaves and beautiful violet-blue flowers in the summer. Following the purple flowers is blue-black berries that appear in the fall. The more sun the liriope is exposed to the brighter the overall colors will be. Just make sure it is not too much sun or too intense heat exposure or else slight browning of the blade tips can occur. The vibrant yellow stripes add color and act as a huge statement piece during the growing season.
The Variegated lilyturf is exceptionally versatile and will thrive in fully sunlight to shady locations. The plant prefers rich, moist and slightly acidic soil, but will adapt to a wide variety of soil types. Keep well drained soils preferably for variegated liriope care.
This ground cover plant grows in clump forming masses and its root system will spread. The liriope muscari’s grass like foliage grows up to 1.5 feet tall and 2 feet wide. Do not plant in full sun. This lily turf prefers part shade to full shade. Divide the plants in early spring.
Not the most cold hardy for northern states. Does best in USDA growing zones 6-11.
