Boxwood Bush Care
The Wintergreen Boxwood growth rate is up to 3-4 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide making it a more boxy plant. It is slow growing naturally in full sun to part shade and prefers well draining soil. Boxwood Buxus microphylla koreana is susceptible to root rot if planted in wet soils. Read more about the Best Places for Boxwoods Plants.
Fertilize lightly in early spring with a slow release fertilizer near the root ball. A layer of mulch applied heavily around the root system will help with moisture retention. This variety responds very well to pruning, and can be maintained in a wide variety of desired shapes, sizes, heights, widths, forms, etc. Regular watering is important the first year of planting to establish roots, without water the leaves may turn yellow.
It is incredibly disease resistant, salt spray tolerant and also deer resistant. This cold hardy boxwood variety can grow across most regions of the United States in USDA hardiness zones 5-9 and does not need much protection from winter winds. Tolerant of transplanting, the shallow roots are easy to move to desired planting site.

Bought 20 of the 1 gallon size Boxwoods to plant close together in hope of making a small hedge around a fountain. They came in 3 different boxes. A little dirt got out of the pots, but the plants looked great. I planted them right away and on my way to having a hedge.
