Calathea lancifolia Rattlesnake plant features sword like leaves that are green with darker colored spots that give it its nickname. The distinctive spots resemble those of a rattlesnake and have ruffled edges. The dark green foliage has reddish purple undersides that cast shadows as the leaves sway in the directions the sun is moving.

The Rattlesnake Calathea Plant can thrive outside all year long in zones 10 and above but is commonly grown as an indoor plant where it thrives near windows or brightly lit rooms. Temperatures should never exceed below 50 F for this sensitive plant and it prefers high humidity environments.
Calathea rattlesnake light // requirements are bright indirect light found from a south or east facing window. Be sure to shield it from the direct sun as this can scorch the leaves. If you are growing it outdoors, a spot with partial shade and partial sun is optimal for the best growing environment. This tropical plant will tolerate low light conditions, but the leaves will fade into a light green color.
Fertilizer for calathea rattlesnake should be applied according to the fertilizer label and application in spring and summer is preferred since that is when it's the active growing season.
