Dwarf Crape Myrtle Offers Year Round Color & Summer Flowers
No matter what size yard you have, and even if you only have a small patio, this Dwarf Pocomoke Crape Myrtle Shrub is a great fit! In spring & summer, it dazzles the eyes with a proliferation of rosy-pink flowers. In the fall, its leaves turn colors with the season.
Pocomoke Dwarf Crape Myrtle is a deciduous dwarf-sized shrub released in 1998 by the US National Arboretum. In fact, it is the smallest of all crape myrtle shrubs. This multi-stemmed shrub can also be shaped into an exquisitely beautiful small tree or does equally well as a low shrub. Even when it’s not flowering, it’s gorgeous!
Crape Myrtle Pocomoke Dwarf has a lush and compact pattern of growth. Its luxurious glossy green leaves grow on long-stemmed woody branches, which contrast beautifully against its profusion of clustering flowers. These dark glossy green leaves of summer eventually mature into a rich bronze-red burgundy color with the coming of autumn.
The rosy-pink flowers of this dwarf crape myrtle bush arrive in spring and bloom through late summer. It should be noted that its flowers only grow on new wood. Additionally, its flowers are enjoyed by local pollinators.
How to Use Pocomoke Crape Myrtle in the Garden
In warmer climates, the miniature pink Pocomoke Crape Myrtle can be trained into a very small tree and is great for adding a sense of dimension to your landscape. It can, of course, be grown en masse along borders and scenic walking paths as well. It also makes a wonderful foundation plant. Due to its smaller size, it easily fits in with other plants as well. Use it as an accent piece in a mixed garden bed or as a well-maintained display specimen housed in one of your decorative patio pots.
