Thorn Free Blackberry Has Sweet & Juicy Taste!
The Arapaho Blackberry bush is a great addition to your fruit tree collection for any home gardener – novice or expert alike!
The Arapaho Thornless blackberry bush is an early ripening variety that produces medium to large sized black berries during early to mid summer. During mid June and July, you will be able to pick the sweet, juicy berries off the bush for enjoying fresh, or baking into cobblers, jams, or blackberry jelly. The fruit is 1-2 inches in size and has small seeds throughout.
Early spring months bring a gorgeous white flower that eventually matures to the blackberry we know and love. The fruit plant has dark green foliage that will stay green for most of the year. During the winter months, the low temperatures will cause the leaves to turn reddish.
With very little care and maintenance to keep it thriving and producing berries, the Arapaho Erect Thornless Blackberry Bush grows easily in the ground or planted in containers in a patio garden.
How Easy is it to Grow Arapaho Blackberry Bushes That You Buy Online?
Growing the Arapaho Blackberry plant is very easy! Arapaho Blackberry zones are approved across the United States in USDA hardiness zones 4-9. Full sun is required for proper fruit production but in the warm climates of the South, partial shade is tolerated during the afternoon to protect against the hot sun. At least 6 hours of full sun is needed.
Moist well-draining soil is the best with a slightly acidic pH. Blackberry shrubs don’t like wet feet but it is important to keep the soil moist during the first year of planting to establish a strong root system.
Arapaho berry bush is self-fertile meaning it does not need another pollinator nearby to produce fruit. The best time to plant Arapaho blackberries is in early spring or fall. The plant is pest and disease resistant.
Arapaho Blackberry Pruning
It is necessary to prune blackberries annually to get loads of juicy berries. At any time of the year, you can prune crossed or dead branches to encourage new growth. In late winter, prune back last year’s fruiting canes. The blackberry bush will produce fruit on new growth. Arapaho blackberry trellises are not required by any means but many provide support and vertical height for the plants to grow upwards.
Arapaho Blackberry Spacing
The Arapaho Blackberry mature size is up to 4-6 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide. When planted in the ground, the blackberry plant should be spaced at least 3 feet apart to allow room for proper root development. These thornless blackberries will also produce suckers and spread in the area they are planted in which means more berries for you! The thornless blackberry growth rate is up to 1-3 feet per year.
Your plant will bear fruit in the first year of planting!

Shipped promptly, arrived slightly dry (due to 90+degree weather), but once dead-headed & watered consistently, is thriving nicely in a pot. Couldn't be happier with this purchase.
