Top Selling Persimmon Variety with Delicious Fruit
Easy to grow and pleasing to the eye, the Fuyu Persimmon tree (Diospyros kaki) offers sweet and delicious fruit that is never bitter! A Fuyu Asian persimmon tastes a bit like a pumpkin crossed with an apple with a ripe texture ranging from a crisp peach to sweet jelly.
The Fuyu’s fruit is medium to large in size with a bright orange color and will keep well for a number of weeks. Fuyu fruit is red-orange skinned, sweet, and a delight to your tastebuds when fully ripened.
Persimmon trees will grow upright with many lateral branches. Fuyu persimmon leaves are bright green in color but will change to shades of yellows, oranges, and reds during fall while the fruit is still hanging on the tree.
This fruit tree has a beautiful fall color when most other plants are going into dormancy!

Fuyu Persimmons Self Pollinating
Fuyu is self-pollinating – meaning they do not need another tree for cross-pollination. However, having another persimmon tree nearby will increase the fruit load meaning more delicious ripe persimmon fruit for you! If your Fuyu persimmon tree is younger than 3 years you may want to wait before cross-pollinating it.

Going to be a longer review, there are some issues that are weighing on me that I felt the need to describe. I'll begin by saying that this is a great company to work with overall, they answered all of my questions before my order and were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They also have some very generous policies if something were to go awry. So I ordered the 4-5 foot persimmon tree in November (a good time to plant it as it goes into dormancy), but the tree that arrived measured about 3.5 feet, it was only 4-5 feet including the pot. I paid the hefty premium because I wanted it as fully established as possible, but this isn't too big of a deal as long as it's healthy I suppose. Upon arrival I had some other concerns though. The tree was topped (the top of it was cut clean off) it looked like in order for it to fit into the shipping box. Wasn't too happy about that because it means the base tree trunk will have an alternate growth pattern and possible weak spot starting at 3.5 feet for it's entire lifespan...and only an offshoot trunk will now grow higher. There was also some type of boring pest that had gotten into the chopped off tip, so I had to take off another inch or 2 to remove that dead and compromised wood. The tree is also just a "whip", it's a spindly stick with zero branches. I was hoping by purchasing a 4-5 foot tree there would have been a bit more to it as the pictures show, and as it was also described to me that some of their 4-5 foot trees even had tiny persimmons growing already (not mine, there need to be branches for that). The tree is in the ground and we'll see what happens come springtime, to see if it awakens from dormancy and takes off growing. My final comment is that in the scenario where it perhaps doesn't awake from dormancy, I purchased the 1-year warranty - but I see that the trees are still selling and are soon to be sold out. What does that mean for those of us that made a large purchase, is there backup inventory that isn't for sale just in case a replacement is needed within the warranty period? I'm sorry to gripe, and this little tree is growing on me and I hope it makes it. But all of the issues that I described kind of put a damper on my initial excitement. We'll see what happens in a few more months, I'm still excited either way.

Hi Scott, Thank you for purchasing one of our persimmon tree and for taking the time to leave us such a well thought out review. We understand your concern about the topping of the plant but we can assure you that if it was only a few inches from the top, it shouldn't be a problem to it's growth rate or growth pattern. However, we love when our customers keep us updated on their plants, so if you see any health concerns on your tree or health decline, please contact us and we'll be happy to help! Best, Shirley
No leaves on my plant.
I received my Fuyu Persimmon without leaves!
Perfect Plants Nursery
Hi Muriel, Fuyu persimmon trees do go dormant. During the dormant season, typically in late winter or early spring, the trees enter a period of rest where their growth slows down or stops temporarily. This is important for fruit production the following season. In spring your tree will flush back out and be beautiful! Please feel free to keep us updated! Best, Kendall
Future Persimum
The tree arrived promptly. It has a nice shape. It lost all its leaves during shipping; I’m hoping it will regain them soon. If, by next Spring, it doesn’t bud out I will let you know.

Great order
Lovely company, I'd purchase again in the future. Plants came well packed for shipping and as described on the website. It did arrive a a few weeks late due to their honest mistake with shipping so I'll definitely follow up next time earlier if the shipping info hasn't changed online. Will still purchase again and more.
