Can Super Blue Liriope take full sun?

The Super Blue Liriope thrives best in full sun to partial shaded areas. The flowers it produces will be more abundant in sunnier areas but only needs about 6 hours of full sunlight with afternoon shade.

Do liriope come back every year?

The Super Blue Liriope is best used as an evergreen ground cover plant. They are know to help with weed growth and are tolerant in almost every climate. The purple flowers that it produces will bloom in late summer and well into fall.

Does liriope stay green in winter?

If you live in an area with milder temperatures in the winter the Super Blue Liriope will grow as an evergreen. If you are living in a are with more severe temperatures it will die off in the fall. These are super tough plants and if the dead foliage should be trimmed in early sprin gto help promote new growth of your plants.

How far apart should I plant Super Blue Liriope?

If you would like them to form a hedge or pathway edging in massive plantings we would recommend spacing them 8 to 12 inches apart. If your are only planting a few and would like to show off the mounding habit that this shrub is also known for plant them 20 to 24 inches apart.

How quickly does liriope spread?

Yes. The Super Blue Liriope spreads quickly and up to 18 inches per plant. It invades areas quickly by rhizomes. We suggest planting them with a hardscape surrounding them that are at least 18 inches deep.

Fast Growing Groundcover with Evergreen Foliage & Spring Flowers

The Liriope Super Blue plant is an improved addition to the more common Big Blue Liriope muscari that grows a bit taller and can tolerate more direct sunlight.

This versatile ornamental grass can instantly transform any yard with its striking lavender-blue flower blossoms and fierce, spiky dark green foliage!

It features abundant blue flower spikes with blueish-purple flowers that rise above its tufted grass like foliage from spring to summer. After the flowers bloom in early spring it is followed by clusters of black berries.

This blue liriope plant is best used as an evergreen ground cover plant, border plant or edging plant, or mass plantings. Monkey grass helps tackle weed growth and it generally very easy to grow.

SUPER BLUE LIRIOPE CARE

This plant prefers moist, loamy soil and part shade areas, but will tolerate dry soil conditions once established. The liriope super blue for Florida is quite tough and is both heat, humidity, and drought tolerant during the summer months… it’s also salt spray tolerant.

Its lavender flowers bloom best in a full sun location and resemble grape hyacinth. It will grow more dark green leaved grass in the shade. Make sure to provide well drained soil types.

Blue lily turf can be grown in most of the United States. This fast-growing liriope variety grows best in hardiness zones 5-11 and has excellent cold hardiness. The super blue liriope size can grow to 15-18 inches tall and wide and up to 2.5 feet wide.

Plant care includes watering regularly the first year of planting to establish a strong root system. Divide clump-forming masses in the early spring growing season to encourage spreading.

Its shipped very well, and adapted to my window sill very quickly. Healthy, no bugs, no disease. It comes in a small plastic 1 gallon pot. I personally divided the main bush into smaller pieces and lined a window box with them.
