Texas Peach Variety Hardy to Early Frost With Sweet Semi Clingstone Fruit
The Texstar Peach Tree was developed by *Texas A&M University as a cold hardy peach variety for home gardeners.
Texas star peach has a red blush fruit that ripens in summer. The blush fruit is semi-clingstone with a yellow flesh and blush centers.
Before the medium to large-sized fruit ripens to maturity in June, early spring flowers that are pink appear to put on a delightful spring show.
Peach Texstar is a great self-pollinating peach variety for home gardeners due to the heavy bearing fruit load. There's no need to plant more than 1 for cross-pollination having 2 peach tree varieties in your fruit orchard will help increase the amount of fruit being produced.
Texas peach fruit is wonderful eaten fresh, canned for later use, or used in baked goods like peach cobbler.
Self-Pollinating Peach Tree Care
Grow this cold hardy peach tree across the United States in USDA hardiness zones 5-9 in full sun. It needs approximately 450-600 chill hours to have a fruit set meaning it's perfect for the southern USA and loves the hot heat!
Moist, well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter is best to keep this peach tree healthy. An annual application of slow-release fertilizer during the active growing season will benefit the tree for structural growth and increase fruit yield. Water thoroughly during the first year of planting to establish a strong root system and during the fruiting period to avoid blossom drop.
It's not necessary to prune the Texstar Peach but it may help with fruit-bearing load and shape. Prune in late winter or very early spring to shape the tree. Thin fruit to prevent breakage of the limbs.

Nice tree
So far so good. The tree arrived in good shape and looks healthy. It’s been in the ground a couple weeks and hasn’t died.
Surviving a wonky Boise Spring
Our TexStar peach showed up in terrific condition and even had 8 young peaches on it. That’s a testament to how well Perfect Plant’s packages their tree’s for shipping! We have two Italian cypress trees, from Perfect Plant’s, that have survived two Idaho winters and I have little doubt that this peach tree will do just the same. It has never shown any signs of transplanting shock or any other concerns after dealing with temperatures ranging from high 40’s to low 90’s, in a 5 day period. The climate differences between Boise and Jacksonville are vastly different but the diligence of the nursery staff and the concise descriptions online, completely eliminate any doubt in me from choosing this nursery over my many local options. Thank you, Perfect Plant’s!!!

TexStar Peach returns to Texas
Very professional. Good website, easy purchase and fast delivery. We were a little late in our order but the trees arrived in great shape and responded well after planting. We were impressed with the way the two year old trees were prepared for a safe speedy shipping. Proof will be if the trees produce as well as Texas A&M research claims.

It was a very hot week when I received the tree. It came with the leaves a bit faded and it is still struggling to survive. I hope with proper care it will make it.
