Order Cranrazz™ Butterfly Bush Online
The Cranrazz™ Butterfly Bush features fragrant flowers that can attract pollinators like butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds into your landscape from miles away.
Small, fragrant, raspberry-red flowers on 8-inch long panicles bloom against green foliage all summer through the first frost. The bright red butterfly bush boasts huge conical flower heads that are not only beautiful but makes the perfect accent plant in any flower bed. Deadhead spent flower blossoms to encourage new growth. The wine-red blooms make beautiful cut flowers for arrangements or bouquets and have the soft scent of honey.
The green leaves are silvery tinted, long and slender, and measure around 3-4 inches in length. The growth habit of this butterfly shrub is arching or mounding and it will grow fast! Being a deciduous shrub, it will lose its silver-green leaves to prepare for winter dormancy.
Great for perennial shrub borders, landscape plantings, single specimen plants, or planted in containers for small garden spaces. You won’t have to worry about deer or other creatures munching on your new flowering shrub because it is deer tolerant.
HOW TO CARE FOR BUTTERFLY BUSHES IN THE LANDSCAPE
Butterfly bushes do best in full sun to produce the most cranberry red flower spikes! In partial shade areas, you may see limited flower production. Grow this variety of butterfly bushes across the United States in USDA zones 5-10.
The best type of soil to use for butterfly bushes is well-draining and slightly acidic soil. However, the Cranrazz butterfly bush is not picky and can even tolerate clay or rocky soils. It is almost never bothered by pests or diseases.
Water well the first year of planting to establish a strong root system. It is drought tolerant once established but will need watering through extreme heat. A thick layer of mulch applied to the root zone will help to retain moisture during the hot summer season.
This pollinator-friendly shrub matures at 5-6 feet tall and up to 5 feet wide at full size. A simple pruning in early spring will help to shape the cranberry red butterfly bush to the desired size and keep it looking neat. We recommend spacing at least 3 feet for shrub hedges and up to 6 feet to have space in between your plants.
The Cranrazz Butterfly bush makes an excellent statement piece in small spaces and it’s very easy to grow!
