Unique Evergreen Foliage Gives All-Season Appeal

Bring elegance and charm to patios, entryways, walking paths, and any place your yard needs a little sprucing up with the dwarf Cryptomeria Globosa Nana Japanese Cedar shrub. This delightful conifer grows to be more lovely with every passing year.

Mature plants have a uniquely rounded and cascading shape. The Dwarf Japanese Cedar is an evergreen too and will provide year-round color.

Globosa Nana Cryptomeria Japanese Cedar hails from Japan and China. It is also a member of the cypress family. Gardeners have appreciated its unique foliage for generations. True to its name, this evergreen shrub has a globular growth pattern and can look a little shaggy. Larger and more mature shrubs can look like puffy cumulus clouds with their stacked and rounded silhouette.

Cryptomeria Nana Globosa's evergreen foliage is compactly needled and grows on long woody branches. It is highly esteemed for its blueish-green coloring, carefree nature, and mounding form. During the colder months, its foliage may take on a slightly copper burgundy hue, making this shrub a lovely specimen in your winter garden.

Overall growth habit is domed with a horizontal spread. Needled branches are long, rope-like, slightly drooping, finely textured, and pliable. To the touch, the foliage is soft and tender. Handsome brown cones emerge in fall and last through much of the winter.

How to Use Japanese Cedar in the Garden

This attractive shrub is excellent for sloped lots and hillsides as it happily assists with erosion control. It can create a wonderful hedge when planted in mass. Grow it in large patio pots, plant it along walkways and borders, or use it for foundation planting. Just keep in mind that it can have a substantial spread, given enough time.
