JUICY YELLOW FRUIT WITH A HIGH YIELD - EASY TO GROW!
The Prunus persica O’ Henry Peach Tree is a vigorous growing peach variety that produces bounties of fresh, juicy fruit that is an excellent choice for home planting!
Beginning in early spring, the tree will bloom pretty bright pink flowers that contrast the green foliage perfectly! The pink blossoms eventually fade and turn into large yellow freestone peaches with red skin on the outside. The large fruit will stay firm on the tree until ready to pick and is slightly fuzzy.
Being a deciduous tree, it will lose its leaves over fall and winter to become bare and go dormant. The best place to plant is somewhere you can enjoy the spring flowers and watch the seasons change like a front or back yard, in a backyard orchard, or planted in groups to produce plenty of red peaches!
When do O’ Henry Peaches ripen?
The best time to harvest O’ Henry freestone peaches is in late summer. The yellow fruit will normally ripen from late August through September. It is up to you to determine when to pick. The fruit can stay on the tree until desired ripeness or you can pick early and save them. The color of the fruit’s skin will change to bright red before they are fully ripe.
Are O’ Henry Peaches Good For Canning?
The O Henry dwarf peach tree produces bushels of delicious peaches that have many uses. You can eat them right off the tree for fresh eating, bake them into desserts likes pies or cobblers, freeze or dehydrate them, or can them for later use like fruit salad or peach butter!
The O’ Henry peach taste is sweet, juicy, and has superb flavor even when the ripe fruit is still firm. It has a long shelf life and can be stored for fresh eating in a dry and cool place.
O’ HENRY PEACH TREE CARE
The O’ Henry peach zones are USDA 5-9 across the United States. Plant this variety of peach in full sun with at least 6 hours of direct sun for the best fruit production. This fruit tree requires around 700-750 chill hours below 45 F for the best fruit set.
Peach trees prefer slightly acidic soil that is well-draining and rich in organic nutrients. We recommend fertilizing this peach variety annually with a slow-release fertilizer. Additionally, a thick 2-inch layer of mulch should be added to help retain moisture during the active growing season.
O Henry peach tree size is up to 15-20 feet tall and wide at maturity. Since this is a rather large size, we recommend applying regular pruning techniques to keep the tree at a manageable height. You want to keep your fruit trees around 1o feet or less so picking the fruit is easier for you!
O’Henry Peaches are self-fertile but they will produce even more fruit with another peach variety nearby to cross-pollinate.

Trees were great, nice and large. Pretty frustrated one was upside down so in shipping it lost 70% of its leaves but hopefully it will come back ok. The 2nd OHenry that was right side up is perfect!
