The Yuletide Sasanqua Camellia’s single red flower buds with a bright yellow center full of golden stamens open just as the fall growing season ends and will last for a few months to come. Glossy dark green leaves contrast the evergreen shrub all year to provide extra green colors year after year.

Growing in an upright habit, the Christmas Camellia Yuletide is best planted as an accent shrub, foundation plantings along fences or walls, as a hedge border, in containers, or woodland gardens. Even better, you can use the cut flowers for vases or arrangements.

HOW TO GROW CAMELLIA SASANQUA YULETIDE

Grow this beautiful flowering shrub across the United States in USDA hardiness zones 7-10. With little maintenance needed to keep it thriving, it is adaptable to a wide range of soil sites as long as it’s in full sun to part shade with well-draining soil. A planting spot with filtered afternoon sun is best especially if you are in an area with hot summers.

The Yuletide Camellia size is up to 8-10 feet tall and 6-8 feet wide making it a perfect small tree or shrub. Apply a slow-release fertilizer at the root ball in the early spring to help boost growth and flower production. The Yuletide Camellia growth rate is up to 1-2 feet per year.

Sasanqua Yuletide Camellia pruning should take place after it has finished blooming and the flowering period ends. Prune the tree as desired to maintain shape and size while keeping the evergreen foliage looking tidy.
