Explosive Red Blooms Cover This Shrub from Spring to Fall
This Double Red Knock Out® Rosebush will be a knockout of the park with its explosion of color all summer long!
The red double knockout rose bush has set a new standard in disease resistance when it comes to a beautifully bright and low-maintenance bloom. It is of the same rose family as the original rose of the knock-out family from Star Roses and plants.
This rose plant produces rich, cherry red to hot pink blossoms that will continue to grow until the first hard frost of winter. They are fully double flowers on the shrub rose bush. The bloom cycle starts in early spring. Roses will bloom from spring until mid-summer profusely before the weather gets too hot. The bloom period will decrease slightly as fall and winter happen although it is relatively heat tolerant.
The red roses contrast nicely to the dark green foliage of the flowering shrub. If grown as a flowering tree, the red blooms will cascade over the green leaves year after year. This classic rose is slightly more winter hardy than other roses but may need extra winter protection in colder areas.
The rose bush features incredible resistance to black spots and powdery mildew leaf diseases and is an excellent choice as a low hedge or accent plant in mixed beds. They can even be container grown as an indoor patio plant for the ultimate flower power.
RED DOUBLE KNOCKOUT ROSE CARE
Grow the Red Knock Out rose tree in full sun to partial sun or part shade across the United States in USDA growing zones 5-10. It can get up to 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide and is extremely fast-growing. The best time of the year to plant the knockout roses is in early spring or fall so it has a whole growing season to establish its root system.
Planting Knockout Rose Bushes
Double Knock Out rose bushes prefer well-drained soil that is kept moist during the growing season. Be sure to examine the surrounding soil to make sure it’s suitable for your new rose bushes. A Slow-Release Fertilizer applied at the top of the root ball will help tremendously with new blooms. Water thoroughly the first year of planting to establish strong roots. Newly planted roses require 1-2 inches of water per week.
They are extremely cold hardy and easy to grow roses with some special care. They can be grown in most areas of the country and the red flowers will grace any landscape. Drought tolerant and self-cleaning once established, this aesthetic rose shrub suits every garden and every lifestyle.
Double Red knockout roses are easy to care for and provide beautiful rose blooms during the spring and summer blooming season. Occasionally, we get customers asking us why their rose bushes leaves turn yellow. It’s usually a sign of overwatering or soil that’s too compact and doesn’t allow oxygen to flow to the roots. Be sure to aerate the native soil if it compacted with perlite or vermiculite to help with air circulation. Other causes of yellowing leaves could be downy mildew but that is uncommon and should be treated with fungicides.
Perfect Plants offer their very own specially formulated Rose Planting Mix to amend the soil you are planting your new rose bush or rose container in.
