Bursts of Sunshine Yellow Color All Year Round

The Sunshine Ligustrum shrub is the perfect addition to any garden or landscape if you are looking to add a burst of yellow color with little to no maintenance.

An evergreen bush with year-round interest featuring golden foliage that changes color hues on its yellow leaves throughout the heat of the summer. The Sunshine ligustrum dwarf plant is a sterile, non-invasive cultivar that will not re-seed into the landscape. In fact, it doesn’t bloom at all which is good news for allergy sufferers.

Ideally planted as a hedge, but is also perfect for containers, small gardens, as an accent plant, or in mass plantings. Some Sunshine ligustrum companion plants include Loropetalum, hostas, and gardenias due to their compact sizes and clumping habit.

This unique and colorful shrub will attract butterflies to your garden from the bright display of yellow foliage, is moderate to fast growing in nature, and adds a pop of color!

Where is the best place to plant Sunshine Ligustrum?

Grow the Ligustrum sinense ‘Sunshine’ across the United States in USDA hardiness zones 6-10. It is an excellent privacy shrub for southern or northern states and is cold hardy down to -10 F.

It flourishes in full sun with at least 6 hours of sunlight every day and prefers moist, well-drained soil. The ligustrum plant is exceptionally tolerant to clay soil, salt spray tolerant, and is okay with wet soils too. You can also amend your native soil with any type of garden soil from your local plant store.

The Sunshine ligustrum size is up to 3-6 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide at full maturity with a moderate growth rate. Prune this evergreen shrub as needed to maintain the desired size and shape.

For best results, fertilize the Sunshine Ligustrum plant annually in early spring with a slow-release fertilizer to help maintain healthy growth and size. It is pest & disease-resistant, heat & drought-tolerant, deer resistant, and easy to care for. Truly a shrub for any gardener – new or old.

Price of plant

I purchased 5 plants for the awesome price of 5 dollars each this past summer which we were so lucky. At home Depot the plant was only 20 dollars at full price. I was wondering why your prices are so much more expensive? We were lucky to of had the opportunity to purchase 5, but we'd love to purchase 5 more from you, but your prices are so much higher. Will the price get cheaper in the near future? If so I'll buy 5 if not more from you.

Perfect Plants Nursery

Hi Donna, I understand your concerns about the price difference between the plants you purchased. While I don't have specific information about the prices of the plants you mentioned, I can provide some general insights into factors that can contribute to price differences between retailers. One of the larger ones is selection and quality. Different retailers offer varying selections of plants that may be more established, larger or have higher quality, which is what we strive for the most. These can all contribute to a higher pricing point. I hope this explanation sheds some light on the price differences you observed. If you have any further questions or need additional information, please let me know! Best, Shirley
