Sweet, Sweet Fruit That is Easy for Home Gardeners!
This delectable treat, the Celeste Fig, is known as the “sugar fig” for its deliciously sweet flavored, medium-sized fig fruit!
The Celeste fig tree features violet-skinned fruit with a rose-colored pink flesh that is sugary sweet with a rich flavor and taste. This cultivar requires minimal pruning and aside from winter protection in freezing temperatures is a low maintenance fruit tree.
The ficus carica aka common fig is a well-known and widely planted fig tree. The Celeste fig plant falls under this category as well as the Brown Turkey fig. They are self-fertile and do not require cross-pollination.
A small, closed eye on this fig prevents fruit rot from insects and moisture, thus increasing fruit production. The dried fruit beetle can gobble them down so just keep an eye out. You may want to create a protected area from other critters like squirrels and birds who may also eat your fresh figs!
The Celeste plant is a deciduous tree meaning it will lose its leaves over winter. The bright green leaves and baby fruit will appear in early spring once the weather permits. You may have a breba crop on the previous year’s growth!
CELESTE FIG TREE PLANTING
If you are wondering where to plant the black celeste fig tree, you have many options! The Celeste is one of the most popular fig trees and is heat tolerant and self-pollinating making it suitable for a variety of planting sites. The Celeste fig tree plant is a compact tree making it suitable for container growing and small landscape spaces.
It prefers full sun with loamy, well-drained soil and the fruit will begin to ripen in July. Harvest figs quickly so you can enjoy more of them! Can grow up to 10 feet tall at mature height and 7-10 feet wide. Be sure to water well during the first growing season so the celeste fig ficus carica variety can establish a strong root system.
Celeste Fig Growing Zone
This cold-hardy fig tree is pest and disease resistant even to fig rust making it a great choice for many gardeners! Grow this fig across the United States in USDA growing zones 6-10. The fig tree zone 6 thrives in somewhat colder zones so orders can ship year-round.

Quick shipment, plant in great shape.
The little fig tree arrived with abundant foliage which I thought it would lose, but it has kept all of it for a month now and new leaves have emerged. Plant looks very healthy and likes its new hydroponics bed.

Hi David. We are thrilled to hear how well everything is going with your Celeste Fig Tree. Thank you for your continued support. Happy fig picking.

Arrived healthy
I received the two plants I ordered on separate days, almost became concerned when only one showed up. They looked good, I planted the 3 gallon one in the ground and the one gallon one into a 6 gallon pot. Being in Utah, not sure how they will overwinter, but I have put them in a Green House for extra warmth and bird protection though I only see one fig growth on the three gallon. They are not growing as fast as I had read about but maybe they have to get used to their home. Crossing my fingers that they will survive a Utah winter. I hope they start growing faster soon. I would like to see more figs on the 3 gallon, but maybe not till next year if they survive. This is a trial experiment for me.
