The Full Draw Persimmon tree is a grafted female variety prized for its cold hardiness, early fruiting, and ability to thrive in northern climates which offers sweet golden-orange fruit and vital food for wildlife from fall through winter.
The Full Draw™ Persimmon was selected for its exceptional performance in northern regions, thriving where many other persimmon varieties struggle. This native American species has endured winters as cold as -30°F, proving its toughness and reliability. As a grafted female cultivar, it begins producing abundant crops of 1-inch golden-orange fruit at a younger age than seedling trees, ensuring earlier rewards and consistent yields. Its extended fruit drop period, beginning in mid-September and stretching well into winter, provides a steady food source when other options have disappeared which makes it a favorite among deer, birds, and other wildlife.
Despite its impressive size potential, reaching 60 to 80 feet tall at maturity, the Full Draw™ Persimmon requires surprisingly little care once established. It thrives in a wide range of soils as long as they are well-drained, and it can tolerate heat, humidity, and periods of drought. Young trees benefit from regular watering during their first growing season to develop strong roots, and an annual layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. This low-maintenance quality makes it an excellent choice for both residential landscapes and wildlife plots.
The Full Draw™ Persimmon is prized not only for its resilience, but also for its ornamental and ecological appeal. Its glossy green leaves turn golden in fall, creating a striking seasonal display.
