LONG WEEPING BRANCHES BRING TRANQUILITY & PRIVACY. THIS FAST GROWING TREE LOVES BEING PLANTED NEAR WATER!

This classic beauty, Weeping Willow Tree, has been around for ages and is guaranteed to add a graceful touch to your landscape with its long slender leaves. The light green drooping branches and timeless appearance of the Weeping Willow is known by all.

The Willow tree is known for its graceful and refined qualities, easily recognized by its open crown of ground-sweeping branches. Willow’s light green leaves appear above and a more grayish green beneath. They shine golden yellow in the sunlight. The green leaves will fall to the ground in late fall or winter.

This fast growing willow grows especially well near water and is one of the fastest growing shade trees with a growth rate of 8-10 feet a year. It can grow quickly to reach its mature height of 30 to 40 feet tall and 35 feet wide during a few growing seasons. The Weeping Willow growth rate makes it a great choice if you are looking for height fast.

The large ornamental tree will help dry up a spot in your yard or landscape that is constantly wet or collects water. Examples of such places are at the bottom of a hill, near septic tanks or septic systems, or near an area with underground water such as a pond or lake. It makes an excellent shade tree and focal point in your yard!

Planting a Weeping Willow Tree

We ship these fast growing trees rooted in a pot in soil. These are not bare root trees and are ready to plant in the ground. If you are when to plant a weeping willow, the best time is in early spring! Avoid planting in late summer or fall.

The green weeping Willow plant grows in most of the United States and adapts well in many soil conditions even drier soils. The agriculture plant hardiness growing zones are 4-9.

Dig a hole the size of the root ball and backfill it with soil. Only add fertilizer to the hole if in early spring. Mulch will help to retain moisture while it is growing. It needs at least 6-8 hours of sunlight each day. The deciduous tree’s leaves will turn yellow without it.

To plant a willow is very easy as it is easy to grow and keep thriving. Just ask us for help or check out our blog on How to Plant a Weeping Willow Tree.

Weeping Willow Tree Care

If you are not in an area with lots of water, be sure to water thoroughly the first year of planting to establish a strong root system. The shallow roots of the large tree are short lived and need lots of water to survive. The biggest cause of a small weeping tree plant dying is the lack of water the first year planted.

The Weeping Willow plant prefers moist soil types that are well draining and does best in full sun to partial shade. Applying a slow release fertilizer yearly at the top of the root ball will help with pests and diseases such as crown gall, gypsy moths, willow scab, and black canker. Generally, the tree grows beautifully without pests and tree diseases depending on location.

The pendulous branches of the Salix babylonica Weeping Willow tree for sale will capture the eyes of many passersby.

Very healthy tree

The tree was packaged very well. I was concerned because the tree did not have many leaves when it arrived. I planted the tree an hour after it arrived. In less than a week, it started growing new leaves. Weeks later it has 5 times more leaves and looks very healthy.

Weeping willow

Excellent. The tree arrived in a timely manner and intact. It was a bare root that was very healthy and has done very well after planting. It was not cheap but definitely worth the price. Thank you

Beetles got it

The tree was severely damaged when received. Customer service was great and I am on the waiting list for a "beetle-free" tree when available.

Healthy and happy "baby tree"

I received the tree very quickly, and it was packaged very nicely. I had someone help me plant it in the backyard at the water's edge. It is doing very well. It is starting to leaf, and it's only been planted for a couple of weeks. I accidentally scraped some bark off when removing nearby tree branches, but it healed up quickly. Thank you!

Hey Amber, Thanks for the review of our Weeping Willow Tree! Hope it didn't weep too much when it got some scratches. The fast healing is definitely a good sign of a strong and healthy tree. Best, Shirley
