Charming Panicle Hydrangea with a Tight, Mounding Habit
Proven Winners Bobo® Hydrangea shrub is a beautiful panicle hydrangea with a dwarf to medium size and large pyramidal flowers on sturdy stems. Created by the same folks that brought you Pinky Winky®, this hydrangea is sure to please.
When Does Bobo Hydrangea Bloom?
A cultivar of Hydrangea paniculata, Bobo® will start blooming in midsummer and keep it up right into fall. The panicle flowers start out white and change to pale pink as summer progresses.
No worries about the sometimes problematic panicle hydrangea ‘flop’ with Panicle Hydrangea Bobo. Its super-stout stems hold these large blooms in place. Bobo® hydrangeas will be covered in gorgeous, long-lasting flowers over the entire shrub.
The compact habit of this hydrangea makes care a snap. It stays put and fills out a small space beautifully, becoming a well-formed and tight performer.
With their medium size and compact upright growth habit, these flowering shrubs are perfect for adding color under windowsills or alongside low garden walls.
Use them as a backdrop behind shorter perennials, and as mounds of color in your garden bed. Or, dot the edge of your property with dark green foliage and bright blooms that won’t be a nuisance for lawn care.
Use our Bobo panicle hydrangeas to bring 3-D depth and interest to your garden beds. Plant one on either side of your front porch steps to provide colorful curb appeal and a softer transition from the house to the yard.
Bobo Hydrangea Care Information
A cold-tolerant hydrangea, Bobo® can be planted in USDA zones 3-8. Take care to plant it in a more sheltered location and mulch well for winter if your site is in the northern end of the range. Choosing a spot with a bit of afternoon shade if you are in zone 7 or 8 will keep your panicle hydrangea happy.
Bobo®, like most hydrangeas, will grow in full or partial sun. Gardeners in more southern locations may find Bobo® enjoys the morning sun more than harsh afternoon heat and rays. Try an area that receives dappled shade in the afternoon if your home is in zone 8.
Plant this panicle hydrangea in well-drained, fertile loamy soil. Avoid heavy clay or poorly drained sites.
Add compost when planting and keep your new Bobo® well-watered for the first year. Once established, these hydrangeas are lightly tolerant of drought conditions and won’t need much maintenance.
Bobo Hydrangea Size
Bobo dwarf hydrangeas will reach about 2-3 feet in height and 3-4 feet wide at maturity, fitting well in tight spaces.
An outstanding large-container cultivar, Bobo® makes a classy flowering patio shrub. Choose a large planter or tub container that will give it room to grow.
Bobo Hydrangea Pruning
Panicle hydrangeas are easy to prune and flower on new wood. Wondering when to prune bobo hydrangeas? Prune in late winter or early spring before bud break to avoid trimming off this year’s flowers.
You can prune all stems in winter down to about 6-12” from the base of the plant if desired. Deadheading is not required.
Best Fertilizer for Bobo Hydrangea?
A slow-release fertilizer applied in early spring will help this type of hydrangea thrive during the growing season.

Much larger than expected
Mine are over 4 ft h/w. They also require more moisture than other paniculatas, otherwise the flowers turn brown.
