Meet the Yoshino Cherry Tree (Prunus x yedoensis pendula). This darling flowering tree is as seductive as it is sweet!

The Yoshino tree features fragrant, white flowers with an oriental branching pattern and glossy bark with dark-green leaves. Its winter form has yellow fall color and elegant bark which makes this a year-round favorite for landscapers and gardeners. The Japanese Cherry tree has become very popular over the years for its graceful form.

Starting in early spring, clusters of white-pink flowers will burst open to put on a show and signal the start of spring! The flowers are snow white in color with rose pink centers that give the appearance of a pale pink hue. Contrasting the showy flowers are branches that sway alongside the trunk of the tree. The commencement of fall turns the leaves to shades of golden yellow and bronze-red or orange for some amazing fall foliage.

Best used as a specimen tree or near a deck or patio for shade, the White Cherry tree will additionally work nicely along sidewalks or near a water feature as focal point. This large specimen takes on a delicate habit with delicate branches and a short, stout trunk.

How to Plant a Cherry Tree

As soon as you receive your new tree, you’ll want to take it out of the shipping box and give it some water. This will help it perk back up after being in a box for a few days without air circulation and sunlight. They are very hardy and will bounce back quickly! Dig a hole at least twice the size of the root ball. Place the tree into the planting hole and backfill it with native soil or amended soil. Press firmly to compact the soil and rid any air bubbles.
