Pink & White Iconic Hydrangea Blooms in Tree Form

Boasting pink and white flowers during the spring and summer growing seasons, the Pinky Winky® Hydrangea Tree is known for putting on a gorgeous display of color! They’ll add a stunning look to any yard or around your patio.

This ‘Pinky Winky’ is the hydrangea paniculata that’s pruned into a standard tree form. We took the hard work of pruning it into a flowering tree out of it for you. With huge strawberry pink and creamy white cone-shaped blooms and dark green foliage, it’s hard not to stare in awe at this impressive tree! The two-toned flower panicles will emerge pure white and eventually fade to the ruby pink color throughout the growing season.

Hydrangeas are deciduous trees and will lose their leaves over winter but not before putting out the stunning dried flower heads that transition to a rose color before winter.

Be sure to plant this unique pink hydrangea tree somewhere in the landscape where it can be enjoyed! The ornamental tree looks great planted in front yards, near mailboxes, as accent plants, or even in containers for small garden spaces.

These gorgeous, hardy Hydrangea trees are 4 to 5 feet tall and are ready to ship! Shop our Pinky Winky hydrangea tree for sale today and get free shipping on orders of $129 or more!

Do Pinky Winky Hydrangea Prefer Sun Or Shade?

It’s best to plant Pinky Winky Hydrangeas in full sun or partial shade. Pinky Winky hydrangea trees grow optimally when they get at least 6 hours of full sun and 4-6 hours in partial shade.

How To Prune Pinky Winky Hydrangea

Pinky Winky Hydrangea pruning should take place after the plant has finished flowering in late winter or early spring. Pinky Winky panicle hydrangea blooms on new wood so as soon as spring comes around you can prune back all the old wood from last year to encourage new growth. Cutting Panicle hydrangeas back during the active spring growing season can risk cutting off the gorgeous flower buds you want to see during spring and summer.

Prune away any dead wood or crossed branches. With hydrangea trees, it is best to prune away any lower branches to keep the plant growing into tree form.Trim the pink and white hydrangea tree to shape for the desired look and size you are going for. Pruning is not required but it can help you keep the tree and flower clusters looking neat.

What is the Pinky Winky Hydrangea Tree Growth Rate?

The Pinky Winky Hydrangea is very fast growing, with a growth rate of 1 to 3 feet per year. Applying a good fertilizer can help a pinky winky hydrangea tree grow faster.

How Big Does Pinky Winky Hydrangea Get?

A full-grown Pinky Winky hydrangea tree can grow between 6 to 8 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet wide. It is an excellent choice tree for small gardens or planting sites that are smaller in size.

Pinky Winky Hydrangea Care

Plant the hydrangea tree in full sun or partial shade just like you would any other hydrangea. It likes to be in a planting spot where there is morning sun and afternoon shade, especially if you live in a warmer climate where the sun can take its toll. The first year of planting will require more frequent watering to establish a strong root system. Don’t be discouraged if you see droopy leaves. That is the plant’s way of telling you it needs water more often and more frequently. Once established, it is drought tolerant.

Grow the Pinky Winky Hydrangea tree in most locations in the United States. The USDA grow zones are 3-9 so it is widely adaptable to many locations and is extremely cold hardy.

Pinky Winky Hydrangea Bloom Time

You can expect the colorful flowers of the Pinky Winky hydrangea tree blooming in mid to late summer. A Pinky Winky panicle hydrangea has a long bloom that lasts through fall until the first frost. Their blooms start off as white and gradually turn into pink, giving them their beautiful two-toned look.

Best Fertilizer For Pinky Winky Hydrangea

The best fertilizer for Pinky Winky Hydrangea is a slow-release fertilizer that is acidic and will 0release nutrients to the tree over time. Hydrangeas are acid-loving plants so moist, well-draining soil that is slightly acidic will work wonders for your new tree! Soil pH does not affect bloom color.

Pinky Winky Hydrangea Tree Winter Care

Once the blooms die back in fall and winter you can deadhead the spent blossoms. This will encourage the tree to put more energy into its root system to prepare for winter dormancy. However, some growers like to keep the dried pink flowers on for winter appeal. The leaves and foliage will die back and fall off for winter so you can clean up fallen foliage and throw it away or use it in your compost. Mulch the root zones to protect the roots during winter. It also helps to retain moisture during the warmer spring and summer blooming seasons.

Pinky Winky Hydrangea Tree

The tree arrived in pristine condition and had about a dozen buds which have now all starting blooming. The plant looks very healthy even though we had a few torrential down-pours lately. Highly recommend Perfect Plants.

Sad outcome….

Arrived in good condition. I bought two for our new and final house we will have. First it went up to 105* then we had a micro burst storm and my poor Pinky Winky got torn to shreds by this awful storm. I am heartbroken …. The first two things I planted. Hoping things will take a turn for the better. Was so looking forward to watching them grow/.
