Huge Cone Shaped Blooms Load the Fast Growing Crape Myrtle During Summer

This fast growing tree has blooms all summer long, has smooth, dark cinnamon brown exfoliating bark, and has a bloom period for a whopping 110 days. This makes the Natchez crape myrtle tree cultivar an incredibly popular addition to landscapes everywhere!

The Lagerstroemia Natchez has glossy, dark green leaves that turn vibrant orange and red in fall before falling off as all deciduous trees do. Beforehand, it's pure white, soft textured flowers bloom from early summer to mid summer and can even last until early fall. Flowers heads appear in early spring before the beautiful white flowers.

The fast growing Lagerstroemia indica tree makes an excellent specimen tree, accent, or group planting. The white blooms will enchant anyone during the spring and summer growing season.

Planting Natchez Crape Myrtle

The Natchez white crape myrtle tree grows best in a sunny spot with rich, moist soil but will become more drought tolerant in dry locations in your landscape just as well once it becomes established. Make sure it is well-drained soil.

This amazing shrub or small tree is resistant to many pests and diseases and is also powdery mildew resistant. Plus its deer resistant!  The National Arboretum in Washington, DC developed these crape myrtles.

The Natchez Crape myrtle size can grow up to be 25 t0 30 feet tall at maturity. The growth rate is up to 1-2 feet per year and it can grow very fast!

Plant this crepe myrtle in full sun across the United States in USDA hardiness zones 7-10. It is slightly cold hardy in the Southern states. Dig a hole the size of the root ball and place the top of the root ball into the hole. Backfill the hole with native soil or amended soil. It is a good idea to mulch heavily with organic matter such as peat moss or compost.

Natchez Crape Myrtle Care

Natchez crepe myrtle tree will arrive rooted in soil in its nursery container. Remove excess dirt around the root ball before planting to encourage new growth. A slow release fertilizer will help if applied annually during the growing season to promote flowering and root development. It will also help protect against diseases like sooty mold and leaf spot.

Remove any suckers that appear at the bottom of the ornamental tree’s brown bark to encourage a central leader. Remove spent flowers to encourage more growth. Avoid crape murder – a process of over-pruning that ruins the sizes and shapes of full size crepe myrtle trees. Learn how to properly prune a crape myrtle tree.

Water regularly the first year of planting to establish a strong root system.

I usually don’t give reviews but I couldn’t be happier with my beautiful, heathy tree or the customer service. I very much look forward to purchasing more plants from this nursery.

Natchez is the most beautiful white crape myrtle, if you have room for a large tree. This cultivar reaches 30 feet and about 15-20 ft. wide. It has a weeping habit that is especially beautiful when the tree is in bloom. Natchez blooms from early summer through fall, usually flushing twice until frost. The leaves turn bright yellow with some red and orange too. The peeling bark in winter add real interest and the new beautiful smooth cinnamon bark is great for winter interest. If you have a two story building and plant the tree within 5-10 feet of the foundation, you will have beautiful blooms in your upstairs windows. We owned a two story apartment building and the upstairs apartments were breathtaking when the crapes were in bloom. Natchez also makes a beautiful allee. I can' t say enough about this lovely tree. A smaller white crape with similar weeping habit is Acoma. It only grows 8 to 10 feet tall and is also very beautiful.

It was hard to pick just two crape myrtles! I think I'll come back and purchase a couple more after these get settled.
