Deliciously Sweet Fragrance During Late Spring through Summer & Fast Growth
This breathtaking beauty will leave your visitors in awe with both its lavish aesthetic qualities and its intense yet sweet fragrance. The Star Jasmine vine shrub is best known for its framing abilities and mesmerizing scent.
Trachelospermum jasminoides can turn any trellis, porch screen, chain link fence, or wall into an exquisite display of reblooming white flowers! A member of the flowering jasmine plant variety, this true jasmine plant has a growing season that lasts almost all year round with its dark green evergreen foliage that will stay green all year. The dark green foliage may turn bronze in colder climates during winter.
The Star Jasmine plant produces clusters of small, white flowers in early spring and early summer months that look like tiny pinwheels or star shaped. Despite the small size, the blossoms give off a deliciously sweet scent and can easily perfume an entire yard, especially in the early mornings when the dew accumulates on the blossoms. The fragrant white flowers will attract bees and butterflies to your landscape.
Star jasmine climber is a fast-growing, twining vine that can be grown on lamp posts, trellises, or arbors. You can even grow it as a ground cover if trained correctly or inside as a house plant. Contrasting the white fragrant flower buds are lustrous dark green leaves that stay bright all year even through drought tolerance. This star jasmine vine is native to China.
The white Star Jasmine bush is a pest free type of jasmine. It’s also easy to maintain, drought resistant, and heavenly fragrant, making it a favorite among landscapers and gardeners. This is not the same plant for jasmine tea like jasmine sambac… this fragrant vine plant is not edible :)
The star jasmine plant for sale is available in 1 gallon pot or 3 gallon potted plant. Pick your size container for your planting site accordingly.
Chinese jasmine flowers thrive in full sun to part shade. The Star Jasmine plant will also grow well in partial shade if necessary and it prospers in a variety of planting sites as long as it is well drained soil. You can even grow confederate star jasmine in containers for small spaces. Choose a pot with a drainage hole and organically rich potting mix.
No special star jasmine plant care is required for well-established plants, except trimming to keep it in bounds and maintain the desired shape. Pruning Star Jasmine shrub is an easy task. It only needs to happen when it outgrows its space or once a year to encourage new growth. We recommend this in spring or summer as soon as the plant is finished flowering.
The star jasmine growth rate is extremely fast! The confederate jasmine plant can grow up to 10-12 feet tall or long during the growing season. Its flowering vines can also grow up to 4 feet in width. It is a vigorous grower plant that will fill any space you plant it in. Water deeply for the first year of planting, especially during dry spells, to establish a strong root system. If you do not allow the star jasmine to trellis, it will grow as a ground cover.
Grows best across the southern United States in USDA hardiness zones 7-11. Once your Star Jasmine Vine Shrub order is placed, we will ship your plant(s) within seven business days year round unless during the checkout process you request otherwise in the space provided to do so.
Perfect Plants’ shipping specialists carefully package your plants using a proven packaging method that ensures your plants arrive healthy, colorfully alive and ready to flourish. We’ve coined the term ‘upside down box test’ and we do just that; we carefully package so that regardless of the direction your box is handled, it will not harm your precious plant that’s inside.
No shipping process is without a problem from time to time. On rare occasions some plants may experience some of the following during their transit: drooping, minor leaf-loss and/or minimal yellowing/discoloration, minor limb damage, etc. These instances are quite rare, but can happen when shipping plants in boxes.
Plants normally recover within a few weeks after planting. If a damaged box has injured your plant on the inside, please notify us within 5 days of receiving you package(s) by emailing us a photograph of the damage.
We always do our very best to ensure that your plants are packed and shipped in the safest, gentlest and most effective way possible.
Will my plants and trees look like the photographs?
Absolutely! Unlike other online nurseries, our photos are of actual plants and trees we’ve grown here, on our family operated nursery.
Growing our own plants and trees helps to ensure we ship you the best quality plants that are free of pests and diseases.
Your plants and trees may however not ship with flowers on them, like the photographs. This all depends on the time of year you buy your plant or tree. Crape Myrtle trees, for example, only bloom during the summer months, so if you purchase one during the spring or fall, they would ship without flowers. Once planted, your plants will grow and thrive giving you flowers for many years to come!
Pot sizes (commonly referred to in gallons) are shipped in the same size nursery trade pots which may vary in actual volume. Some plants may have been at the approximate pot size listed, but require excess dirt to be removed so that you will not be paying any additional shipping costs. This doesn’t happen very often though.
Our shipping charges are based on the value of your order and the destination it is being shipped. Please see the chart on the Shipping Info page to get an exact amount. We frequently have a free shipping promotion to help you save!
CONFEDERATE JASMINE CARE:
The Confederate Jasmine can be planted to sprawl as a 1-2ft tall ground cover or can grow up to 20’ tall on a support or framework. It prefers moist soil and is not tolerant of dryer conditions. As growth resumes in spring, pinch growing tips back to topmost buds every 2 weeks in order to promote lateral branching.
If being maintained on a frame or trellis, loose ties spaced roughly 8 inches apart should be used to support upright growth. Overgrown stems should be pruned after flowering in early summer to maintain shape and winter-damaged stems should be trimmed back to nearest healthy wood in late winter.
Dig a hole approximately twice as wide as your new plant’s root ball and deep enough so that the top of the root ball is equal with the ground level.
Loosen the root ball using a small garden spade or by hand. Breaking smaller outer roots can encourage growth into the new soil, but take care to not damage large primary roots.
Place the plant in the hole and ensure that it is situated evenly upright. Use the excavated soil to fill in around the root ball, using your foot to pack it in firmly. Thoroughly soak with a hose as you fill in the dirt. Take great care to not leave any gaps or air spaces around the root ball as this could kill the plant.
A 2-4 inch layer of mulch is strongly recommended to help retain moisture and discourage weed growth. Apply mulch over the entire planting area but keep away from the stems or trunk by a few inches. Ensure that the plant and surrounding soil is completely soaked with water.
To ensure the proper nutrients are available for the life of your Confederate Jasmine, our proprietary Perfect Plants Special Blend Soil and a once yearly application of Nutricote Total 360 Fertilizer are great considerations for your new plants!
