Showy White Flowers During Spring & Easy Care

The delicate white blooms on this evergreen shrub are the perfect way to easily liven up your landscape all year long! Mrs Schiller’s Delight Viburnum shrub is a small, neat, semi-evergreen flowering shrub that is densely vegetated with a twiggy crown.

Viburnum obovatum features small dark green leaves and a showy flowering bloom period in early spring followed by small bursts of fragrant flower clusters occurring nearly year-round. The bloom times make it an excellent plant to show in your front yard. It has dark green foliage which emerges coppery-bronze in spring. The small glossy oval leaves turn an outstanding coppery-bronze in the autumn giving it excellent fall color.

The creamy white flowers will light up any landscape and the foliage color stays green year-round. Following the flowers are bright red fruit or red berries that attract birds and other wildlife. This dwarf shrub is a native plant from North America and commonly seen in areas of the South including Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Mrs. Schiller’s is also an excellent specimen or foundation plant. It can also be left as an unpruned, natural hedge or screen plant or can be used in a more formal garden/landscape. It is also known for being extremely useful in difficult areas to plant in such as parking lots, roads, power line rights-of-way, and highway medians.

EVERGREEN VIBURNUM PLANT CARE

This flowering shrub grows to be 2-5 feet tall and 3-5 feet wide. It is a dwarf version of Walter viburnum. Grow this cold hardy shrub across the United States in USDA growing zones 6-9.

Little shaping is required as it naturally forms a ball shape with its green foliage. You can train it to grow as a small tree. It is fast growing too.

The Mrs Schiller’s Delight is a dwarf shrub that is drought tolerant and prefers well drained soils (it does not like wet soils). Grows best in full sun to part shade.
