Growing Mars Grapes
The Mars grape variety takes 2-4 years to bear fruit. Grow this self pollinating grape across the United States in USDA zones 5-8, it's among the most cold hardy of the blue seedless grape varieties. It also tolerates hot environments in the South.
Mars grapes growing can reach up to 6-8 feet tall and wide at maturity. They thrive in a multitude of soil types including clay or sandy soils as long as it's well draining.
Be sure to water well the first year of planting to help establish a strong root system. Vitis mars grape will need lots of water, especially during hot summer dry spells when the fruit is being produced. Full sun is required for at least 6-8 hours a day.
