Coral Drift® Rose Bush

Product Description

The Coral Drift Rose bush features beautifully vibrant flowers that will catch your eye and brighten up any landscape or garden!

The bright coral orange blooms that cover this small mounding shrub will last from mid-spring to mid-fall. You will see coral colored flowers with double blooms appear in early spring and they contrast the dark green foliage nicely. It has one of the longest bloom times of all rose plants!

This rosa meidrifora shrub is fully winter hardy and disease resistant like the rest of its family and can be either a full-size drift groundcover rose or a miniature plant. It has excellent disease resistance to black spot if cared for correctly.

Coral Drift Rose Care

Drift roses grow in full sun or part shade. Plant drift roses in any planting spot – they are not picky about soil types but it does like well drained soil. They prefer to be planted in spring or fall so it has the whole growing season to establish. Check out our Rose Soil Mix for the best rose potting soil!

It can grow up to 1-2 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide, perfect for small gardens. This miniature rose bush grows best all over the United States in USDA plant hardiness zones 5-10.

This cold hardy rose has a spreading habit and is also easy to grow for many reasons. Once planted in the ground and a strong root system established, it is extremely drought tolerant and resistant to the hot, humid heat of summer.

It can benefit from a slow release fertilizer being added to the base of the plant at the root ball during the growing season. Coral shrub rose care is easy with these already established plants!

An annual application of mulch or organic matter can help benefit the rose plant by helping retain moisture. Prune drift roses in late winter or early spring only to maintain the desired size and shape.

Shipping Info

Once your Coral Drift® Rose Bush order is placed, we will ship your plant(s) within seven business days year round unless during the checkout process you request otherwise in the space provided to do so.

Perfect Plants’ shipping specialists carefully package your plants using a proven packaging method that ensures your plants arrive healthy, colorfully alive and ready to flourish. We’ve coined the term ‘upside down box test’ and we do just that; we carefully package so that regardless of the direction your box is handled, it will not harm your precious plant that’s inside.

upside down test

No shipping process is without a problem from time to time. On rare occasions some plants may experience some of the following during their transit: drooping, minor leaf-loss and/or minimal yellowing/discoloration, minor limb damage, etc. These instances are quite rare, but can happen when shipping plants in boxes.

Plants normally recover within a few weeks after planting. If a damaged box has injured your plant on the inside, please notify us within 5 days of receiving you package(s) by emailing us a photograph of the damage.

We always do our very best to ensure that your plants are packed and shipped in the safest, gentlest and most effective way possible.

Will my plants and trees look like the photographs?

Absolutely! Unlike other online nurseries, our photos are of actual plants and trees we’ve grown here, on our family operated nursery.

our story Lloyd nurseryGrowing our own plants and trees helps to ensure we ship you the best quality plants that are free of pests and diseases.

Your plants and trees may however not ship with flowers on them, like the photographs. This all depends on the time of year you buy your plant or tree. Crape Myrtle trees, for example, only bloom during the summer months, so if you purchase one during the spring or fall, they would ship without flowers. Once planted, your plants will grow and thrive giving you flowers for many years to come!

Pot Sizes

Pot sizes (commonly referred to in gallons) are shipped in the same size nursery trade pots which may vary in actual volume. Some plants may have been at the approximate pot size listed, but require excess dirt to be removed so that you will not be paying any additional shipping costs. This doesn’t happen very often though.

Care

The Coral Drift® Rose Bush does best in full sun or partial shade, too much shade can reduce flower development. Soil should be rich in organic matter. Amending soil by mixing your own soil with a supplemented, enriched soil can help in offering them an ideal growth environment.

Roses tolerate only mild drought, and should be watered regularly especially until established. Roses as a general rule prefer to be watered at their base, such as by a drip system. Frequently wet leaves can lead to a variety of fungal or pest problems.

Pruning is very important to promote densely growing, well producing Roses. Early spring is the optimum pruning time in most areas. Faded flowers can be snipped at any time to encourage repeat bloom (rather than seed) production.

Planting Instructions

Dig a hole approximately twice as wide as your new plant’s root ball and deep enough so that the top of the root ball is equal with the ground level.

Loosen the root ball using a small garden spade or by hand. Breaking smaller outer roots can encourage growth into the new soil, but take care to not damage large primary roots.

Place the plant in the hole and ensure that it is situated evenly upright. Use the excavated soil to fill in around the root ball, using your foot to pack it in firmly. Thoroughly soak with a hose as you fill in the dirt. Take great care to not leave any gaps or air spaces around the root ball as this could kill the plant.

A 2-4 inch layer of mulch is strongly recommended to help retain moisture and discourage weed growth. Apply mulch over the entire planting area but keep away from the stems or trunk by a few inches. Ensure that the plant and surrounding soil is completely soaked with water.

To ensure the proper nutrients are available for the life of your Coral Drift® Rose Bush, our proprietary Perfect Plants Special Blend Soil and a once yearly application of Nutricote Total 360 Fertilizer are great considerations for your new plants!

Ordered 6 of these. Two were damaged in shipment. After several emails expressing my displeasure, Perfect Plants shipped two replacements and they were tiny and half out of the pot. (see picture)

It arrived on schedule and packed well. Upon opening the box we were surprised to see a very droopy, sad looking rose. After removing it from the packing and giving it sun light for a couple of days “Rosie ” perked up and was planted. We are happy to say it is now enjoying its forever home. Time will tell how it lives up to the write up. We are excited to see 2021 blooms.

Hi Joyce, thank you for the honest review of the Coral Drift Rose. It is true, they don’t like being in a hot, dark box on the transit but with a little water and TLC we are sure glad it perked back up! Enjoy

The plant is beautiful. Had a few yellow leaves when it arrived to my mom but she thinks it was because of the plastic around the plant. It now is beautiful and growing.

This is a beautiful bush with robustly colored flowers. It is truly flourishing in the ground. I live in Mississippi, so I think the spontaneous showers and intermittent days of overwhelming heat, will really give it an opportunity to show what its really made of.
