The Most Cold Hardy Pomegranate On the Market + Loads of Sweet Sweet Fruit

Looking for a self fertile pomegranate variety that can grow in most areas of the United States with ease? The Cold Hardy Russian Pomegranate Tree is the perfect choice for you!

The Russian red pomegranate tree can thrive down to 0 degrees F and is a great option for tropical fruit growers in the northern United States. With a late bloom season, you won't have to worry about late winter freezes knocking off the tender spring blooms.

Fruit will ripen and mature in late summer or early fall and is well known for producing up to 100 lbs of fruit every year. The Russian red pomegranate cold hardy tree fruit is about the size of a grapefruit with sweet red flesh. The pomegranate arils can be eaten fresh, juiced for their strong antioxidant properties, or used as a topping in desserts or salads.

Russian pomegranate fruit is full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to keep you healthy. You can't go wrong with growing your own organic fruit!

Russian Pomegranate Tree Care

Grow the Russian hardy pomegranate tree in the ground or in containers anywhere in your yard. The small size makes it perfect for small spaces in the garden or you can even grow it in containers. Fruit will begin producing in 2+ years after planting.

When grown in the ground, the Russian pomegranate tree size can get up to 8-10 feet tall and wide at maturity. Growing in USDA zones 6-10, it's a lovely tree for growers in all kinds of climates. If you live below zone 6, you do have the option to grow this self fertile fruit tree in containers and bring it indoors during the coldest nights of winter.

Be sure to establish a regular and thorough watering schedule for the first year of planting to have a nice root system growing for future growth periods. Once established, this tree is drought tolerant.

How to Grow Russian Pomegranate

Like most other pomegranate varieties, this tree grows more like a russian pomegranate bush with many branches and stems but it can be pruned into a single stem if that is the desired look.

Full sun is required for fruit production and we recommend up to 6-8 hours of direct sunlight. Don't worry about the hot heat - it can tolerate the sun and drought.

We do recommend fertilizing the cold hardy pomegranate tree annually for best results.
