Truly a shrub for all seasons; early spring will display its attractive tiny pink or white flowers, summer will have you eating handfuls of medium sized berries and autumn will offer a nice array of fall colors. Powderblue Blueberry bush needs around 600 chill hours for the ideal fruit set. The blueberries are light blue in color.
HOW TO CARE FOR POWDER BLUE BLUEBERRY BUSHES
Blueberries prefer full sun for best fruit production and even moisture. This heavy producer’s blueberry plant’s large fruit will ripen later in the mid to late season with a harvest beginning in late June to mid-July.
This fruit bush grows very large… up to 6-15 feet tall and 6-10 feet wide. Be sure to pick a planting site with ample space. Grows across the United States in USDA growing zones 7-9. Blueberries like acidic soil. Test your soil pH to ensure the acidity levels are right. Buy Blueberry Potting Soil to amend your garden soil.
The advantage of buying our potted blueberries is their well-developed root systems and branch structure that will have them quickly thriving and producing fruit in your yard. We do not ship bare root.
Blueberry plants can benefit from the addition of mulch or organic matter such as pine bark or peat moss to help retain moisture. You may grow these plants in a large container or raised bed as long as there is enough room for roots to spread. You may need to prune to desired size and shape. Be sure to check out our blog post on How to Prune Blueberry Bushes.
All blueberries require cross-pollination to produce fruit. We suggest purchasing three plants of at least two different varieties for ideal fruit production. Choosing blueberry varieties that fruit at different times in the season will extend your berry availability. Not getting any fruit? Check out this blog on Why is My Blueberry Plant Not Producing?.

Perfect Plants’ shipping specialists carefully package your plants using a proven packaging method that ensures your plants arrive healthy, colorfully alive and ready to flourish. We’ve coined the term ‘upside down box test’ and we do just that; we carefully package so that regardless of the direction your box is handled, it will not harm your precious plant that’s inside.
No shipping process is without a problem from time to time. On rare occasions some plants may experience some of the following during their transit: drooping, minor leaf-loss and/or minimal yellowing/discoloration, minor limb damage, etc. These instances are quite rare, but can happen when shipping plants in boxes.
Plants normally recover within a few weeks after planting. If a damaged box has injured your plant on the inside, please notify us within 5 days of receiving you package(s) by emailing us a photograph of the damage.
We always do our very best to ensure that your plants are packed and shipped in the safest, gentlest and most effective way possible.
Will my plants and trees look like the photographs?
Absolutely! Unlike other online nurseries, our photos are of actual plants and trees we’ve grown here, on our family operated nursery.
Growing our own plants and trees helps to ensure we ship you the best quality plants that are free of pests and diseases.
Your plants and trees may however not ship with flowers on them, like the photographs. This all depends on the time of year you buy your plant or tree. Crape Myrtle trees, for example, only bloom during the summer months, so if you purchase one during the spring or fall, they would ship without flowers. Once planted, your plants will grow and thrive giving you flowers for many years to come!
Pot sizes (commonly referred to in gallons) are shipped in the same size nursery trade pots which may vary in actual volume. Some plants may have been at the approximate pot size listed, but require excess dirt to be removed so that you will not be paying any additional shipping costs. This doesn’t happen very often though.
Our shipping charges are based on the value of your order. Please use the chart below to see what your shipping charge will be.
POWDER BLUE BLUEBERRY CARE:
The Powder Blue Rabbiteye Blueberry will grow best in an area that is full sun or partial shade. They require soil that is well drained but moist especially throughout the growing season. Acidic, organically rich soil is best for fruit production. Adding peat moss or elemental sulfur can amend the soil. In areas where acidity is harder to achieve, planting in raised beds or pots may more easily facilitate amended soil.
Healthy pruning practices can make a big difference in berry production. It is recommended that the first year’s fruit buds be removed to allow the plant to focus on root structure and vegetative growth. In following years, Blueberries should be pruned annually in late winter or early spring. Low to the ground growth, rubbing canes, shorter or less productive branches and overly leggy branches should be removed at their base. Lack of vigorous pruning each year will lead to larger number of smaller sized, less flavorful berries.
Blueberries need a cross-pollinator to bear fruit. Planting two or more varieties 3 to 6 feet apart is recommended.

Dig a hole approximately twice as wide as your new plant’s root ball and deep enough so that the top of the root ball is equal with the ground level.
Loosen the root ball using a small garden spade or by hand. Breaking smaller outer roots can encourage growth into the new soil, but take care to not damage large primary roots.
Place the plant in the hole and ensure that it is situated evenly upright. Use the excavated soil to fill in around the root ball, using your foot to pack it in firmly. Thoroughly soak with a hose as you fill in the dirt. Take great care to not leave any gaps or air spaces around the root ball as this could kill the plant.
A 2-4 inch layer of mulch is strongly recommended to help retain moisture and discourage weed growth. Apply mulch over the entire planting area but keep away from the stems or trunk by a few inches. Ensure that the plant and surrounding soil is completely soaked with water.
To ensure the proper nutrients are available for the life of your Powder Blue Blueberry bush, our proprietary Perfect Plants Special Blend Soil and a once yearly application of Nutricote Total 360 Fertilizer are great considerations for your new plants!

VERY healthy plants. They even had lots of berries already!
My husband and myself bought 8 Powder Blue Blueberry bushes a few years back. It is one of our favorites. They are sweet and plump berries. I make pies and jellies from our own blueberries.
I work for WIC in Texas we ordered several different plants, but the blueberry was our favorite. The plants came with ripe fruit on it so we were able to reap the benefits from the start. The packaging was great, by far the best we've experienced with ordering plants online. (which we do often)
