The Neon Flash Spirea for Sale Will Brighten Up Your Yard

Neon Flash Spirea is a fantastic plant to add to your landscape if you’re looking for something flashy. It grows clusters of small pink flowers ranging from pastel to vivid neon contrasting with dark green foliage that turns to stunning burgundy tones in the fall, creating a long season of interest in your garden.

The plant will lose its leaves in winter but will return to dazzle you with its beauty in early summer. It grows quickly, so you won’t have to wait long to see those beautiful blooms once again.

Spirea is gorgeous when planted alone in a flower bed or a container, but it’s great to grow with several others to create borders or low hedges.

How to Care for Neon Flash Spirea

Neon Flash Spirea will grow 2-3 feet tall and 3 feet wide. It has a round growth habit and will stay compact, so it’s great to use along sidewalks or in containers.

It grows best in hardiness zones 4-8. It can withstand some cold weather but will benefit from winter protection in excessively cold winters.

Sunlight Requirements

Neon Flash Spirea needs full sun, which is at least six hours of direct sunlight, to have the best color. It can tolerate partial sun, but the colors might not be as vivid. Too much shade will also cause leggy growth.

In zones hotter than 8, dappled shade in the afternoon may benefit the plant even though it requires full sun to look its best.

Water Requirements

Spirea prefers moist soil, especially since it needs to be in the sun all day. Don’t allow the soil to dry out completely. During prolonged excessive heat in the summer, you may need to water more often to keep the ground moist.

When you first transplant young Spirea, water deeply in the early morning or evening so the water will soak into the ground. This will encourage the roots to grow deeper and allow your plant to grow stronger and healthier. A deeper root system often means you won’t have to water as much.

Soil Requirements

Neon Flash Spirea needs well-draining soil with a moderate amount of nutrients. Adding compost or general-purpose fertilizer in the spring before new growth appears will provide plenty of nutrients for your plant.

Spirea is tolerant of many types of soil, so you don’t need to worry too much about what type of soil you have or the soil pH level. As long as the water drains well, the plant should be happy.

Pruning Requirements

Neon Flash Spirea will look its best when you prune it, but you don’t have to do it every year if you don’t want to. At least every three years, trim the plant down so that there are only a few inches left with buds. This will promote new growth to create a bushier plant and will prevent the plant from becoming leggy. You can do this yearly if you’d like to promote new growth each year.
