Classic Summer Bloomer in the South!

The Sioux crape myrtle tree (not to be confused with crepe myrtle) cultivar will mesmerize with its sensational pretty pink blossoms!

The crepe myrtle Sioux tree features lush, dark green foliage that is highlighted by its beautiful pink blooms that begin to flower in early spring until early summer to June. Fall color envelopes the small tree in autumn with different colored leaves for a beautiful display.

If you are looking for a slightly more cold tolerant variety of crape myrtle tree: the white flowering Black Diamond may be a good choice. It grows as a shrub or small tree.

SIOUX CRAPE MYRTLE CARE

This luminous dark pink flowered tree is an exceptionally fast grower and does best in full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Prefers alkaline soil and is powdery mildew resistant. A true southern classic!

The vase shaped outline of this small tree grows best across the United States in USDA plant hardiness zones 7,8, and 9 (not the most cold hardy).

This Sioux pink crape myrtle is resistant to most pests and diseases and is partially drought tolerant. Plus, it’s deer resistant! It can be grown in a variety of soil types once established. Be sure to water regularly the first year of planting to establish a strong root system.

The Sioux Crape myrtle growth rate is moderate to fast with up to 1-1.5 feet of growth per year. This fast growing tree is a very dense, medium-sized crape myrtle that grows to be 15 to 20 feet tall with a 10 to 15 feet wide growth rate spread. The Sioux crape myrtle size makes it perfect to outline landscapes or sides of the house looking for a pop of color.

How to Plant Sioux Crape Myrtles

To plant this crape myrtle dig a hole the size of the growing container. To plant in the hole, place the tree to the top of the root ball and fill it back with soil. Pack it down but not too tight. The roots need room to expand. This flowering tree does not ship bare root. It is rooted in a container with soil for the health of the tree.

Sioux crape Myrtle trees

i purchased 2 trees and unfortunately they arrived being only approximately 12 -16 inches tall as opposed to the 3 feet that was quoted. Extremely disappointed. The price was quite high for these small trees. I had to contact the Perfect Plant Nursery , took pictures as requested and only received a 20% discount. Will have second thoughts about using Perfect plants nursery again
