- The best time to plant hydrangeas is in the Fall followed by early Spring so the plants have the whole growing season to establish roots and produce large flower buds.
- Plant new hydrangeas in a sheltered location with sunny mornings and shady afternoons. Hydrangeas prefer to be planted in well drained soil that is kept consistently moist and is slightly acidic.
- When planting in the ground, dig a whole twice as wide and a few inches deeper than the root ball. Firmly expell airpockets after backfilling and thoroughly soak the soil!
