Dwarf Hydrangea Full of Lime Green Blooms!

The Little Lime® Hydrangea is sure to turn heads with its clustered, color-changing blooms. The Hydrangea Paniculata ‘Little Lime’ can be grown in containers and raised garden beds.

Their small stature is not to be underrated, and their cone-shaped blooms will stand high and proud. Summer flowers will bloom with a soft lime green hue that will turn to pink and burgundy in color as the seasons change.

Contrasting the showy flowers is dark green foliage that lights up the Little Lime Panicle Hydrangea shrub perfectly to put on a show during summer.

Being a deciduous shrub, it will lose its green leaves over fall and winter to go into winter dormancy.

This is a Proven Winners specimen developed for mass planting and foundation plantings.

LITTLE LIME HYDRANGEA CARE

The Little Lime Hydrangea performs best in loamy, moist, well-drained soil types and prefers morning sun and afternoon shade.

It is also drought tolerant. This flowering shrub can grow in most of the United States in the Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 3-8. Makes an excellent shrub border. The recommended Little lime Hydrangea hedge spacing is 3 feet apart.  Growing hydrangeas is fun and rewarding and anyone in North America can grow their beautiful lime blooms.

The best time of year to plant this Panicle Hydrangea bush is in early spring so it has time to establish its roots before winter. The Little Lime hydrangea growth rate is up to 12 inches per year, and an annual application of fertilizer in the spring will supplement their root development.

Little Lime Hydrangea Pruning

Little Lime Hydrangea pruning should happen in late winter or early spring before new growth appears or larger flower buds start forming. If your Little Lime Hydrangea is leaning over, cut the branches 18-24 inches above the soil line for blooms on new wood.

You can trim off any old blooms just below the flower head, as well as any weaker canes at the bottom of the plant. Also, removing older canes at the soil line will keep the blooms large and thriving. The closer you cut back to the ground, the bigger your flowers will be.

Little Lime Hydrangea Size

The Dwarf Hydrangea Little Lime has an upright growing structure that will get up to 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide at full maturity.  This panicle hydrangea bush is a dwarf variety of the Limelight Hydrangea, making it a great size for a smaller garden.

Little Lime Hydrangea Sun Requirements

The Little Lime Hydrangea should be planted where it can get full sun throughout the day. It usually needs 6 hours of sun, with 4 hours of partial shade, and another 4 hours of full shade. Monitor your Little Lime Hydrangea in warmer climates that may scorch the leaves and flowers.

Little Lime Hydrangea Bloom Time

Little Lime Hydrangea usually bloom starting in July and continue through September. Deadhead spent flower blossoms in winter or early spring to encourage new growth and accelerate the bloom time. You can even keep your cut flowers once they have dried up to make a long-lasting bouquet.

Best Fertilizer For Little Lime Hydrangea

The Little Lime Hydrangea needs a balanced slow-release fertilizer with a 10-10-10 distribution. It's best to fertilize your Little Lime Hydrangea at least once per year in the springtime before new growth starts.

Little Lime Hydrangea Companion Plants

The best companion plants for hydrangeas are other evergreen shrubs like hollies or boxwoods, daylilies, or azaleas!

Great plants!

Received a large plant and it is already growing buds. I purchased PW small/tiny plants on their website and some of them died either the same year or the year after but this large plant grows sooooo well! I am in colorado, zone 5B where everything grows not so easy compared to the other warmer areas.

Perfect

I was shocked when opening the box received yesterday to find fully healthy and well grown limelight shrubs. It’s amazing how great they looked since they came to us in Bend, OR all the way from Florida. I’m very impressed.
